A panel of library/information center administrators and staff will discuss what they look for in applicants for open positions and the skills necessary for employees in their fields. This panel will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 2:45-3:45 p.m. in the Rackham Ampitheatre.

Holly Hibner: Holly received my MLIS degree from Wayne State University in 1999. Since that time, she has served as the Head of Adult Services at the Salem-South Lyon District Library. She currently chairs the Michigan Library Association Reference Division, and also participate in the MLA Transitional Leadership Forum. In 2007, Holly received MLA’s Loleta D. Fyan Award. Her special interests include roving reference and bibliographic instruction.

Molly Mahony: Molly has been a “solo” librarian since 2001 at the Tanner Philosophy Library in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Michigan. Prior to this position, she held numerous jobs in a variety of academic and public libraries. She will be talking about the skills necessary for solo librarianship and giving a few helpful hints for students applying for solo librarian positions.

Denise Allee: Denise graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelors in Business Administration double majoring in Records and Information Management, and Business Management. She has worked in the Records Management field for 10 years in several different industries including travel/ hospitality, marketing, financial, nuclear power and automotive. Denise is currently employed by JDM Systems Consultants on assignment at GM as a Records Manager. Prior to her current assignment, Denise worked at Ford Motor Company in the Global Information Management Program, first as a Records Analyst and then as the Manager of the Global Records Management Program. She earned her Certified Records Manager "CRM" designation in July of 2003. Denise is very active in ARMA which is a records and information management professional organization. She has been on the Board of the Detroit Chapter of ARMA for the last three years.

Elaine Logan: Elaine received her MILS from the University of Michigan and is a Margaret Mann Award recipient. Elaine has worked in all types of libraries in public service, technical service and administrative roles. She is currently the Associate University Librarian at Eastern Michigan University and serves as the Chairperson of the Library of Michigan Board of Trustees. Previously, Elaine has held a number of leadership positions in information management at Pfizer’s Ann Arbor Research Laboratories, worked in technical services in the Mardigian Library, University of Michigan-Dearborn, and managed special projects in the General Motors Legal Staff Library. A long time member of Special Library Association, Elaine is currently the MI Chapter SLA liaison to the Wayne State Student SLA Chapter.
